Welcome to the Northwest Florida Defensive Pistol Shooters!

We are the local chapter of IDPA -- the International Defensive Pistol Association.  As stated on the IDPA website, "IDPA as a sport is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in IDPA events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in IDPA matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his equipment or gamesmanship."

Match Fee: $10 for ERML members, $15 for non-ERML members.
Equipment: Each shooter must have equipment suitable for self-defense (see www.idpa.com for specifics).  A minimum of two magazines and 50 rounds of ammunition will be required, although three or more magazines makes the match go a lot easier. The weapon must be drawn from a holster that meets IDPA restrictions.
Side Matches: Each month we usually hold a side match for either rifles or shotguns immediately following the pistol match. It will be a stage of typical IDPA design, with targets ranging from contact distance to the berm (approximately 100 yards).  If you plan on shooting this stage, please bring a center-fire rifle of your choice with 2 magazines or a shotgun and approximately 40 rounds of ammo.  It will be totally open as to type of sights open, scope, red dot, etc. and type of action bolt, semi-auto, <no full auto allowed on the range> even single shot, if you so desire :-).  The only real requirement is that it be a safe working firearm that you are familiar with. Please see Shotgun Rules and Rifle Match Rules for more details.
